“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein
Sometimes I judge someone else by their ability to be like me and that’s just wrong.
It’s not that I cannot see people in a certain light. Many times I choose not to see them that way.
Sometimes I fall into the trap of assuming that another does not have the capacity to reach my expectation because my expectation of them is tied into how much they can execute as I would. When I do that, no matter how right the other person may be they’ll always be wrong in my eyes.
I’m not meant to understand something the same way that someone else does. If we all see the world through the same lens with the same understanding and with the same approach to solving its challenges, creativity and innovation are lost.
Spend some time today asking someone how they see the world and you might just have your own eyes opened.
